New Parliament Sworn in

The opening of Belize’s Parliament commenced shortly after 9:00 Wednesday morning, March 21st, in the chambers of the National Assembly with the swearing in of senators and the appointment of the President of the Senate, Senator Mark Pech.

The government’s senators: Charles Gibson, Lisel Alamilla, Juliet Thimbriel, Marconi Sosa and Godwin Hulse, who is the Leader of Government Business, were all sworn in.

Senator Joy Grant, who is currently on official business in Brussels, will be sworn in when she returns.

The Opposition People’s United Party’s senators are Lisa Shoman, who has been re-appointed, and newcomers Karen Bodden and Collet Montejo.

Senator Mark Lizarraga represents the business community.
